Well I wouldn't say it was a complete waste of time, as I now know for certain that IT DOES NOT WORK! I've used the black Loctite stuff, which does say 'Not recommended for use as a head gasket', but what do they know? I've read mixed reviews about this on the internet, some swear by it and others dont - one guy even claims to use bog standard bathroom silicone from B & Q and says it works every time. Well my gaskets still haven't arrived so in my impatience I have decided to attempt something a bit crazy - instant gasket for a head gasket!!! I applied the gasket this morning so I'm gonna give it till tomorrow until I start it up, hopefully it works. This may have been due to my not torquing the bolts properly as I was a total noob at the time and didn't have a torque wrench. I once used a pattern head gasket on my old DTR 125, it was fine for about 6 months and then started to push the coolant out the overflow but very slowly. When the powervalve is in the 'off' position, with the rack pushed to the left side of the bike, which direction should the drum valves be facing? I imagine they should be completely closed at this stage but I'm not too sure.Ī squid eating dough in a polyethelene bag is fast and bulbous, got me?

The bike is a good runner but it needs a head gasket, so I've stripped the top end down for cleaning while I wait for parts to arrive, but I made the crucial error of not marking the drum valves before dismantling and now I don't have a friggin clue how they are supposed to be positioned! Remains non-tacky and does not stick to other surfaces.ĭampens vibration and resists heat and mechanical shock.New to the forum, just signed up because I need a little help reassembling the powervalves on a KMX 125 I've just bought.

Temperature Range: -65☏ to +500☏ (-50☌ to +260☌)Ĭonforms smoothly when wrapped around complex forms. No tool box or glove box should be without a roll of this fantastic tape As you stretch the tape, it triggers a curing system, which causes the silicone atoms to actually cross-bond to each other forming a permanent, 100% leak proof join. The Samco Stretch And Seal Tape is a clever tape made from self-amalgamating silicone.
